27 Baffling Design Choices Found in the Wild (February 2, 2025)

One of my favorite forms of comedy is simply when people mispronounce words. A well-placed mispronounced word makes me giggle until the cows come home. Like in Wet Hot American Summer, when Paul Rudd's character says "durnal' instead of "journal." It's a blink and you'll miss it kind of moment, but if you catch it, it makes the already great movie 1000% better. Another classic (if a bit overused) example of this is the vine "freesh avocadoo." It has lived in our minds rent-free for a reason. Another great one is when Michael Scott says, "I'm not superstitious, just a little stitious."

We know what he's trying to get at, but watching him fail at it just tickles our brains. We get a little joy out of watching people try and fail, especially when we know what they are going for. It's not a dire mistake, just a little gaff that makes us chuckle.

This list is full of those moments. Usually, you have some idea of what they're going for, but they missed the mark so spectacularly that we want to send it to our friends so they can LOL at them. It's a very natural impulse that should not be questioned. So scroll on and enjoy.
